Looks like Sony's finally deemed necessary to offer an updated version of Sega Game Gear TV tuner, with the company today announcing its 1 seg TV tuner for the PlayStation Portable. That the decline of Technology Only necessarily mean that the device will not make regular Road to North America (at least Kesawan Form Yang now), but PSP users in Japan will soon be able to take some digital TV signals.
Sony Japan today reveal a TV tuner add-on to their PSP portable gaming system. The PSP-S310 tuner plugs into the cartridge port of the PSP and provide digital television reception system on the TFT screen.
Unfortunately, the tuner only planned to market that supports 1seg digital broadcasts at this point, which means that you will not be able to use it outside of Japan. Also, it will only work with, the new model was released the PSP slim (PSP-2000), rather than the original model (PSP-1000). There is a catch, however, in that the device is apparently only compatible with the new.
